One of the biggest obstacles that a person faces when attempting to line up their day. What do you do with each little block of time? Regardless of how you structure your time, you will face this decision. Some people break their days into hourly blocks and some will go so far as to schedule every ten minutes of their day. However, despite the different ways that we set up our daily schedule, the one thing that should always come first is scheduling all of the big events first.
Craig Jarrow, over at Time Management Ninja, unpacks this very idea in this article.
Take Care of the Big Things and the Little Things Will Fit Into Place
Make Sure You Always Do the Important Things First

Perhaps, you find yourself doing everything but what you’re supposed to be concentrating on. Before you know it, the day is ending and it feels like you haven’t accomplished anything of consequence.
Today, I want to tell you why you need to do the big things in your life first.
Not Focusing on the Important
During your busy day, it can be easy to become distracted by interruptions and urgencies. The next thing you know you have answered 47 emails, but haven’t done the one task you really needed to get done today.
When this happens, you aren’t focusing on the important, but let the little things take over your life.
You need to prioritize your most important work. Only by doing the big things first will you ensure that you have enough time to fit them into your day.
If you fill up your day with little tasks, you won’t have enough time left to do the big ones. Yet, it’s these big items that make all the difference.
By the big things, I mean the things that truly matter and have an impact on your life. Your #1 Task, your goals, your planning, and preparation.
Always Do the Big Things First
If you live in the minutiae of your life, then you will continue to get small results.
To make big things happen you have to do the important things. Always do the big things on your list before you let the smaller things take over your time.
The small things, by nature, will fit into space around your big work. After all, they are small. In fact, you may find that many of them disappear and weren’t that important in the first place.
So, there you have it. Sit down tonight and decide what big things need to be done tomorrow. Settle on what is most important. Put it on your agenda first thing. The rest of your day can flow around them.
Life is Strange. Live it Well.
